Tokyo: Day #1 27.07.
Tokyo, again?!? Yes, to me Tokyo is the most advanced city in the world, they are really organised, everybody dressed funky fresh, innovators in several ways, and you’re right, they work hard, too hard, something we (from the west) don’t understand but hey that’s the way to do it in Japan… So here I am, chillin’ at the Jazzy Sport house with my boy Grooveman Spot and KK aka Kosuke. Last night (in Seoul) we came home around 3am and had to wake up at 8am to get my flight at Gimpo International Airport (another airport around Seoul), jetlag is hitting hard as I didn’t sleep at all last night, had a lot on my mind I guess, thinking about everything, that’s what happens when laying in your bed with a serious jetlag. The airport is a bit ol’skool and had 2 hours to kill so I imagined ways to entertain myself haha. Had a beautiful Japan Airlines Boeing 747-400 taking me straight to Haneda Airport, the closest airport in ready to become in a couple years the main Tokyo airport I think. Situated in the bay it’s much closer and there’s a monorail taking you straight to the city. I was starving on the plane and didn’t expect to see sushi coming my way, that reminds how shitty the food can be on western companies. Another remarkable thing is the bird’s eye view camera in front and under the plane, giving you the possibility to see what’s happening in front and below. Japan Airlines Ichiban. The only negative thing is probably the customs; after a couple hours flying, tired, you still have a long row to go before getting out of this airport, but hey, it can’t be perfect! Shibuya, that’s where I’m heading to, straight to Jazzy Sport shop to see the crew at work. To me, it’s the nicest shop I’ve ever seen, atmosphere, selection and friendly faces behind the counter… I took some time to check my emails right before leaving for the JS house, I need that couch for a minute since I haven’t slept yet, so back on a crowded train. Kosuke, the biker and artist was there and proposed me to go eat somewhere, “man, I need to chill for a second….”! By that time DJ Miura from Gagle came downstairs from the studio on top, that’s where Miura and me will sleep the next couple of days.
Grooveman Spot came in with his girl and we decided to go eat some Yakiniku, it’s actually the Japanese version of Korean’s Bulgoki haha. Delicious and never enough, let’s order more meat… I’m glad Kosuke speaks fluent english so we can have interesting discussions, translating when necessary. Yes, Japan is a different world and I love it. I’m about to crash now, finally I’ll go sleep at a decent hour, it’s the first time in 4 days that I can go sleep at midnight. Goodnight.
